Crossing America: Trip Stats

In the middle of July we took nearly three weeks to drive across the country stopping at National Parks and other beautiful places along the way.   It was AMAZING.

A look at our trip by the numbers. :)

* 5 Suitcases: We each brought one filled with enough clothes so that we wouldn't have to do laundry.  They stayed in the van.  Each night we only brought one small bag with a pair of pj's and change of clothes for each person + a family toiletry bag + a small tote with bathing suits in to the hotel.  In the morning the dirty laundry was added to a large canvas bag and the "daily" bag was replenished with new sets of clothes for the next morning.

*10 National Parks: The Badlands, Wind Cave, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Yosemite, King's Canyon, Sequoia, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches

*6 National Monuments and Landmarks: Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Devils Tower, Beartooth Scenic Highway, Black Rock Lava FlowHoover Dam

*18 Animals: Buffalo, Yellow-Bellied Marmot, Chickaree, Steller's Jay, Black-Billed Magpie, Grey Wolf, Burros, Belding's Ground Squirrels, Western Fence Lizard, Northern Whiptail Lizard, Black-Tailed Jackrabbit, Thirteen-Lined Ground Squirrel, Prairie Dogs, Least Chipmunk, Big Horn Sheep, Elk, California Condors, Rock Squirrels

*10 Audio Books=40 Hours:  Room One: A Mystery or Two, A Week in the Woods, A Wrinkle in Time, The Wednesday Wars, Henry Huggins, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Strawberry Girl, Extra Credit, The Last Holiday Concert, The Landry News

*2 Teeth: Both pulled by Pop with dental floss. T at Tenaya Lake, Yosemite, CA.  M at Nana and Pop's in PA.

Over the next week I'll be posting the photo journals of our trip.  (It's taken a while to sit down and edit all of those photos. ;)  )
